Smart Studio is green community art studio, gallery, and classroom creatively using repurposed materials. All proceeds benefit the therapy and child development programs of CDRC.

What can I do at Smart Studio?

Besides browse the sustainable arts, crafts, household goods, and materials, individuals and groups use Smart Studio in a variety of ways:
  • Open Studio--for $5 per project (plus tax) or less, materials are provided, the ipod is loaded, and the glue is overflowing for studio hours where YOU are the artist. Whether you have a little or a lot of creativity, this is your place to get sustainably creative! Check our calendar page for Open Studio times. Children under 14 need adult supervision unless attending a class or teen studio. Premium materials will cost extra,
  • Bring a group-- studio times are available during opening hours (and beyond by appointment). Materials can be pre-determined craft activities or more open ended. Email Terri to schedule a group time.
  • Take a class--classes from local artists and educators feature SmART materials to make everything from jewelry to housewares. Classes are available for artists of all ages. Check our calendar page for a complete class listing. 
  • Field Trips/School Visits-- classrooms from upper-preschool to college can benefit from the environmental and art lessons provided by SmART Studio.We request a $5 per participant voluntary donation for materials and setup for studio visits and a flat $75 for school visits (up to 60 kids).   • Birthday Parties-- Smart Studio hosts birthday parties during non-studio/class times for you and 11 guests. The cost is $90 and materials are included. Please email Terri for scheduling and/or if you're interested in the party coming to you!
  • DIY Bridal Events-- Brides and their friends and wedding party are welcome to use the studio to make their centerpieces, invitations, favors, and other wedding items. We can also accommodate bachelorette crafting parties. Please call or email Terri to discuss pricing and schedules. 
  • Corporate Retreats-- Facilitated or freestyle, Smart Studio is an amazing venue to get your creative juices flowin' and build collaboration among your team. Contact the studio for pricing and needs. 
  • POP-UPs!--Check out Smart Studio in the community! Community Events are listed as pop-ups on our calendar. If you'd like to host a Pop-Up event, please call Terri.

PRICES

Raw materials: all materials are priced far below retail for the same items.

Open Studio: $5+tax per hour provides the raw materials and space for creating. Please check out the calendar page for open studio times. Premium materials will cost extra.

Memberships: Artists and craft groups can use the space and materials at the studio at a scheduled weekly time for $80/month. Families can have unlimited use of the studio programs for $25/month for one child and $10 per each additional sibling. Call or email us to discuss

Classes: range in price. Information about a particular class can be found on our calendar page.

Groups and Field Trips: Email Terri to find the curriculum/materials and environment which would best suit your needs.We request a $5 per person donation, based on materials, but no one is ever turned away from an opportunity to expand their art and ecology learning because of an inability to pay. 





To donate, please bring items to 1720 Bishop Street between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday -Friday or to the studio during opening hours. A complete list of items we need donated can be found on our donations page.
